Nasal Flu Vaccine (Flumist) unavailable this winter

The CDC has recommended against the use of the nasal flu vaccine (Flumist) for this upcoming flu season.  Recent data have shown that Flumist was ineffective the last three flu seasons, which is an interesting turnaround from a few years ago when Flumist was actually recommended above the injectable flu shot because it was proving to be more effective.  Here is a good article that delves a little more into the details.  Panorama will not be ordering Flumist this winter because of this recommendation.  We thought you may want some advance warning so you can prepare your kids for this winter if they are accustomed to getting the nasal spray!
