Using our social media

Along with our new website, we have added linking and posting to various social media sites.  You can find the links at the bottom of any page on our site.  As you may know, each of them has their pros and cons.  So here's a brief primer on how we at PPG plan to use social media to inform and educate our patients....

Blog/News page:  the most obvious thing to do is occasionally come check the website and see if we have posted any new news items.  We don't want to overwhelm our patients, and sometimes too much info is less listened too, so we'll probably post new items 1-2 times a week at most.  Of course, this means you have to remember to look!  One way to help that is....

iOS "add to home screen": if you have an iOS device, surf to our webpage on Safari, and then use the sharing button (the little box with the arrow in the navigation bar of Safari) and choose "add to home screen".  You'll get a home screen icon with our PPG icon on it, that takes you right to our website.  Kind of like an app, but Dr. Sullo didn't have to learn to code to do it...

Subscribe:  The rest of the choices entail some sort of notification with new news.  For those of you who prefer email, on the right side of the main news page is the "connect with us" box.  Fill out the info, and you'll be subscribed to get an email every time we post to the news feed.

Facebook:  This is probably the most popular medium right now.  However, it turns out it's not a great way to get news out about things.  Facebook uses algorithms to decide what to place on your News Feed.  As a result, businesses find that only about 5-15% of their followers will see a post.  One way to get around this is to set "notifications on" when you like our page; then you'll get a notification with every post.

Twitter:  We'll also "tweet" a link to each news post, so if you follow us on Twitter that is a sure fire way to not miss any news (the downside being Twitter can sometimes be like drinking from a fire hydrant...)

Pinterest:  We'll use Pinterest a little different than the other social media channels in that we will not be posting our news items to Pinterest.   We will instead use our Pinterest page as a repository of interesting resources that we've found around the web, kind of a complement to our "resources" page on our website.

We hope this helps, and we'll see you out on the web!
